My grandmother bought me an Alvin and the Chipmunks LP when I was a kid. It had this song on it. That's all I remember. I must have drove everyone nuts because it disappeared never to be seen again. :)
-
AAhhh, that brings back Christmas memories!
singing,"Chipmunks roasting on an open fire" :)
-
WOW, great people think alike neill...
EVERY time I hear them sing the same song pops into my head!

I feel thoroughly admonished. I'll go sit quietly in the corner, sorry RB!

And here is David Seville's first (?) use of sped up singing:

Oh, the memories.
Ooh eeh oo-aa-aa was my favorite expression while walking barefoot across the black pavement to my friend's house in Tucson on those summer days!

Sorry Mrs. River. Didn't mean to get you riled.. As far as the wooden spoon..... ;D
That might not be a good idea Mrs. River... My Girlfriend slapped me once..... Long ago... I followed her about making puppy eyes till she married me ;D
-
Not the SPOON! Anything but the spoon! ;D

Me too, 13. I don't know if it's real or not.
I read on Wikipedia that "Dave" sang all four voices. His and the three chipmunks.

lol, the wooden spoon........jack is the one i got after with the wooden spoon..........jack started it! called me a squirt and said his mother chased him around with a wooden spoon! lol, it went from there!......
truth be told never used a wooden spoon except for cooking!....... :)
my mother used a pretty hefty wooden spoon once. it broke chasing and cracking one of my brother's over the head with it one time......we started snorting, laughing, (trying not to laugh cuz of her reaction) which just made her even more mad.......lol. my mother was/is a gentle soul, and really did not use items from the kitchen or other to discipline us kids. if she said something, we respected that, well for the most part..........sometimes just tested the waters as we got older.
scott, i really am a peaceful person~ i might get snarky sometimes and i know i do ~ i apologize.......... one time in my life i used a cast iron skillet, not a wooden spoon, and i was already married...........message sent, problem solved.............. ;D
as far as the chipmunks songs and david seville.........i don't know the history but sure makes me laugh when i hear this tune! always has. it's just fun with some memories attached. :)
-
RB,
That goofy satirical tune is one I used to sing to get my kids giggling. Now I use it on the grands.

As for being good:
Mae West famously said: "When I'm good I'm good, and when I'm bad, I'm really good."

i was thinking i would like to expand this topic and was wondering what all listen to for christmas music?
ours is varied........we have xm, but after about 3-4 hours they start playing the same stuff over and over again. our cd collection is pretty varied; from big band, to country, vocal, lol, not sure what the rest of this would be classifed as?
old standards? many different artists of different genres. i also make my own mixes of music sometimes, and burn the mix to a cd. our cd player holds 6 discs, so can load what we like and play on 'random'. goes for hours.
i like and listen to all different genres of christmas music. a couple years ago, we were introduced to 'STRAIGHT NO CHASER'.........love their christmas music! all guys and a cappella, some good christmas tunes. anyone else listen to them?
what is your favorite artist/group or what is your favorite christmas song? what do you enjoy listening to?

I like Darlene Love's "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" because she always sang it on the David Letterman show every Christmas. Sideline: Darlene has a very interesting personal story which is why Letterman invited her back year after year.
I also have a very unique Jorma Kaukonen Christmas CD. (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna fame) It's very mellow.
I also have several Christmas LPs that are interesting. Liberace is one.
When I was a kid, we had Elvis Presley's Blue Christmas LP.

I prefer.. White Christmas with Bing Crosby

cbt~lol.........yep i have heard this one!
been listening to some big band christmas tunes lately while making candles, love it, crank it up, sounds like an orchestra in my house!
so many great christmas tunes out there!
has anyone seen the movie 'polar express' ? when visiting home (montana) at christmas with the grandkids they wanted to watch it christmas eve, so we would make snacks, popcorn etc put it in...........they loved it. i like the part of the lost reindeer bell towards the end ......
josh groban sings the song 'believe'.........

Barbara Streisand "It Must Have Been The Misteltoe". It's not my FAVORITE Christmas song but it has been going through my head last couple of weeks. "The countryside all dressed in white, that crazy snowball fight". Makes me wish we were a bit younger. Don't get me wrong, we still play around like that, it's just that now I worry about tearing an ACL or injuring my back or heck, just falling down! Ted

LOL Tell me about it! We will have to get some boxes put together for the less dangerous sport of painting!! No worries about torn ACL bad backs or falling down! Plus your REALLY good at painting! If it was a sport you would have been in the Olympics!
