Title: First Swarm Call
Post by: Jen on February 03, 2017, 01:02:24 am
:D But it turned out that the bees had a warm day today and were very hungry, and tired of weeks of sugar  :D

So they found this sack of chicken grower finisher stuff and had a full on banquet. So what in this stuff that the bees would love?

Anything that looks like pollen, even sawdust, will sometimes be collected.

I figured so, and it's a protein. My bees are all over my millet bird seed too. It's fun watching the bees jump and their wings poof seed around  ;) 8)

With the bees going for the chicken feed, it could be a sign that the colonies are trying to expand. The bees may also start going to a "dirty" water supply. That would be for the minerals.
