Not even noon yet and this is supposed to last till tomorrow.
Hope I'll be able to find the snowblower once it stops (beside the van in 2nd pic.)

I thought the purpose of leaving it outside was to be a gauge:
Can see the snow blower: Don't need to blow the snow, stay inside. Drink mead.
Can't see the snow blower: too much snow to blow away, stay inside. Drink more mead.

Wman :D  :D
-
lol, drink more mead!!!
perry, i have said this before, i would just leave the blower parked on the roof................ :D :D
-
Can you step out in your house shoes and get a little better pic of the snow blower engine. Want a better look to see if it will start once you have had your mead
-
Hey Perry why don't you just have some mead? Oh and by the way what's that blue thing under that pile of snow? :o
-
I couldn't open the front door! :o
The dogs needed to go out so there was no way out of it. I pushed open the back door, grabbed a shovel and worked my way around the house past the van to clear away the front door in case of an emergency. The snow is at least 3' deep and the better part is reaching 4' with about 4 hours left to go according to the radar images.

Hard to see but the snow off the roof is only about 4' away from the snow on the ground. We have had lots of snow before (2 years ago) but not all in one whack like this!

Wow, Perry,
I hope the roofs to your buildings are able to handle the weight of the snow.

2 years ago I had to shovel off the roof, first time I've ever had to do that. I will not be surprised if I have to tomorrow as well, at least some drifts. I haven't seen anybody outside anywhere for hours.

Some think if you had enough mead you could wait till it melts.
-
Perry,
I read this thread to Sweet Wife and she said,"Dear Lord, Bless his heart!" :)

Street finally got done. ;D One of my yard owners sent me a couple pics asking if the bees would be alright. All you could see were the stones on top.

geez..........that is some serious snow fall!!!

Another weather warning for tomorrow night. No school the last 2 days, and Jane and I drove out to the honey house this afternoon and the roads were single lane, so not sure about buses running tomorrow either.
If I had any brains I guess I should try and home school my son, but then he never listens to anything I say anyway, he's 15 and knows everything.
-
I think I would enjoy that kind of weather for about one day.
Then I'd be ready for my warmer temperatures.
-
Don't worry Perry, the older he gets the smarter you get
-
Wow Perry, that is a lot of snow. Is it wet or dry? I don't miss shoveling snow. My back does not miss it either! :)
-
The last week both storms have been dry types, but if you wait a day the snow settles and becomes very heavy. Also, where the snowplow driver throws his stuff gets packed hard and you really have to work the snowblower to bust it up and get through it.
-
If it makes you feel warmer its 70 deg here today :D

It doesn't, but thanks (?) anyway! :P

Storm? I thought this was called a dusting up your way

How much did you finally end up with?

When I left Maine there was about three feet of snow... Got back to Iowa in time to spend two weeks in the hospital (day and night) as my Grandmother faded... I swear she waited for me to get there.
Wife came back to help me and support me... The day before she got back to Maine, they got 40 inches of snow...
She arrived to find her road had not been plowed.. MANY roads had not been plowed, so wearing a light coat and a pair of jeans and sneakers, she decided she could WALK the mile and a half to her house.... Plowing through 40 inches of powder all the way... i am fairly certain i would not have made it.. she has frost bite on legs and feet.....
She gets home, and finds the heater has gone out. pipes are frozen etc.... So no heat in the house.. she puts on dry clothes and brings the gas grill in and starts it, then starts a fire in the wood stove... Shovels 40 inches of snow, PLUS all the snow that fell off the roof to get to the 100 LB gas bottles so she can change them so she can light the furnace....
It is still about three to four hours before the house warms up... I am getting calls about every fifteen minutes as she asks how to do this, or that.... She tries to shut off the water valve in case the pipes or toilet is busted... of course the valve froze with water in it so it will not turn off.. I suggest shutting off the breaker to the well pump.. OOOH Good idea! The next morning the toilet is thawed and still holds water? She turns the water on, and it works? Even the on demand hot water heater works?
If it had been me, i would have died half way to the house, NOT, that i would have even tried to get in there walking. I would have slept in the truck.... but, when I did arrive I would have been fixing pipes, and drains, and toilets, etc, etc.... But not her.. I think someone watches over her.... I am glad someone does, because that would have been the end of me if I had been there.
Here, there is no snow.. we are tapping trees and it is 70 degrees and I am sweating... My bees may be struggling, but after that story and seeing your pics I am enjoying sitting on the dock in the sunshine! Wish I had some MEAD! But rum will do!
-
"Wish I had some MEAD! But rum will do!"
I know where you can get some, but it's a bit of a drive! :)
-
scott, first, very good to have you back! have missed your presence on the forum.
sorry to hear of your grandmother........hard thing, i was very close to mine. my condolences to you and your family.
i also hope your wife is doing well! can't imagine you trying to coach her from a long distance.......how frustrating that must have been!

Lazy, you just made me realize what a whimp I must be. ;)

LOL I try not to think of myself as a wimp Lee... I prefer to think she is just meaner and tuffer than the "ordinary" person. This year I will have been telling myself that for 30 years! Yes, it makes me feel better.
Scott ;D

Wow Scott,
What a woman! Got yourself a keeper, bud! :)
