Title: Interesting?

For a province with a population of less than one million, we seem to have some geographical advantages. World's second deepest harbour, and now this.

Canso is a beautiful little place that at one time was a thriving fishing community, it had a huge fish plant, etc. Hard times in the fisheries took its toll on Canso like so many other fisheries based towns. It just lost its Town status a year or two ago. It is still extremely well known for Stan Fest, a huge gathering of folk singers and stuff held each year in honour of Stan Rogers the singer who died at age 33 many years ago when a plane caught fire in on the ground in Cincinnati.
He was a powerful singer, and he liked his rum (LazyBkpr). :) :D
His songs tell incredible stories!

This last song is a tribute to all the maritimer's who had to go West to work in the oil patch.

The Mary Ellen Carter.. I have heard that song before...   It was hard to listen to it, because the gentleman in the first part of the middle clip sounds like he is from up Maine..  why was that hard?  because I spent 17 years with folks that talked like that and they all told me I talked weird!   ;D

Ya know, when I watch that clip of the boys around the kitchen table singing Barrett's Privateers, why is it that I would have not been surprised at all to have seen you sitting there? :D
Stan was actually very popular in the US as well.

hehe! I'd have been honored to have been there. Stan sounds Irish when he sings sometimes. very much so in that first clip.
