Title: Managing a nuc

I can find lots of information on creating a split and on installing a nuc.

What I don't find is information on managing a nucleus sized hive.

How did s this done? Seems like it starts off at 80% full. What do you do if you want to keep it nuc sized?

I'm not planning on doing this, I'm just curious, since I've read about folk overwintering their nucs.

Not sure exactly what you are asking,  but I let my nucs get 4 to 5 boxes high before moving to 10 frame equipment.   You will not find a better configuration for drawing out foundation than 5 frame nucs.   If you mean to keep them in just single 5 frame box, then you need to roll out brood and honey to other hives and keep them with a frame of foundation to draw.

So you either go tall, out you keep the nuc to generate resources for your other hives?
