The more I look into the background, the madder I get. My significant other who has known me for 30+ years gently suggested that I stop researching and calm down, its just politics.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I need to open a hive and talk to my bees :laugh:lol

It's all about the money and the politics. They think they need the bees to pollinate and then they complain that berry prices are so low because of the bumper crops and the surplus of berries........
Which NS beekeeper in their right mind would want put his hives in an area with the Ontario hives and take the chance of infestation.

I agree 40 Acre. Have a look at this document if you have not already, its the official government statement on bee importation protocol, developed for and by the Dept of Agriculture. http://www.nsbeekeepers.ca/cmsAdmin/uploads/2017-Bee-Import-Protocol.pdf Take blood pressure medication before you get to page 3 and 4.

A journalist friend of mine used a few of my pictures to go with her story about this: http://www.thevanguard.ca/business/2017/4/7/nova-scotia-beekeepers-concerned-about-hive-importation-from-pes.html

Good pics!
The Minister once again spouts rubbish.
The NSBA was NOT involved in the inspections done last year.
The Province absolutely can say where hives can or cannot come from, what garbage.
Just because other provinces have it (wrong), and by the way the USA is not a Canadian province, does that mean it's OK if we get it?
Notice the thinly veiled threat of cancelling the expansion program?
This guy needs to resign!

Perry,
As an outsider I must ask, are Ontario bees known for being infected?

The southern region of Ontario, Essex county and the Niagara region, are the only areas in Canada with an established presence of SHB. This is exactly where the importer wants the hives headed to NS for blueberry pollination to come from.
