Title: Arizona Fires
Post by: Wandering Man on June 23, 2017, 02:00:04 pm
Hey Nugget,

How are the fires doing on your side of the mountains?

Looks like Mount Graham is still struggling.  A fire that started out less than 500 acres has reached 21,000 acres.  There were complaints when it was still small that not enough resources were being brought in to fight it because it was in an unpopulated area, and was small.

I think they're bringing in more equipment and people now.

That is simply a gorgeous photo of wildfire. We deal with wild fires here in upper northern California every year. I dread it. Especially last year when a fire broke out just north of our town and in two hours we were notified to be prepared to evacuate at any moment. It's a dreadful feeling. Then the bomber planes from southern Calif came roaring over the horizon toward us and everyone in town was jumping for joy. Bomber planes had the fire out in about 1/2 an hour. That reminds me, hubby and I have to make an evacuation plan.

My father's house is in a little town called Thatcher near the mountain.  I'm now responsible for the house, and so the fire has caught my attention.
