Title: Queenless hive with flies......
Post by: Apis63 on June 23, 2017, 10:45:56 pm
Hi All!
Well, more questions from the rookie beekeeper! My newest dilemma is this: I have a hive that is suspected to be queen less and my suspicion was confirmed when I went in yesterday and saw no signs of brood--bees on maybe three frames. Today I noticed lots of flies on and around the hive. What's going on here? Do I re-queen this hive? And how do I deal with the flies? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I would try and requeen it for sure, otherwise it is just going to dwindle and die. The flies are just taking advantage of a weak hive, no biggie.
