Wednesday morning we received notification from the hosting company that our account was suspended due to a reported phishing attacked hosted on the site.
Our abuse department has received a report of phishing being hosted on an account under your direct control. We do apologize for any inconveniences, however, to help prevent further abuse reports until this matter can be addressed, we were forced to disabled site access for your account.
They gave us no details of the report or phishing attack. However they did off to give us root cause for a fee and tried to sell us 3rd party security service.
There had been plans to move away from this hosting provider and make the site https: compliant by year end. So this just accelerated the time line.
After about 1/2 day digging in, it was determined that a well know streaming company was behind the "report" to the hosting company. After further investigation into the issue, it was determined that there was no phishing exploit on our site "targeted at their customers", but rather someone had posted a link to a Chinese pirate site that was making one of their movies available for free. So basically, the streaming company was falsely using "phishing attack on their customers" to shut down our forum because there was a link posted that they did not approve of.
Migrating a forum at the spur of the moment created some challenges and did not go as quickly as hoped for. On the positive side of things, the forum now has a SSL certificate and can be accessed securely with https. Hopefully the outage is behind us at this point, but I am still working with the new hosting company to tweak some things, so there could be some performance/access issues over the next day or two.
Thank you for your patience during this transition.

Thanks for the explanation, if it was me trying to fix this we would all be in a lot of trouble. :-[
I have to be one of the most computer illiterate people on the forum. ;D
-
Just a heads up, we are still having some resource issues that are being work and the forum might be temporarily suspended again. The issues are being worked and hopefully we will be back to normal shortly.
-
Thank YOU for your diligence, and quick and hard work. Running a website is no easy task. Your efforts are appreciated. Thanks again.

Not as it was.
Before the outage, I accessed WWB using a bookmark. Doing this now, I get the Home Page but the chat window is blank. I know I can get things back by clicking on "show unread posts".
How can I return to the previous set-up ?

Click on the '+' on the far right side of the Wbee Chat line. You only need to do this once and it will remember your settings.

I was wondering what was going on---but since I was away from home, I though it was due to my alternate connections/computers.
There's notihng to compare to the dedication of those "silent" angels who do miracles for us all while we just rub our heads wondering about it all.
Admin, thanks a thousand times over.

Admin,
Hate to bother you with this. Is there any reason why the "always stay logged in" checkbox doesn't work for me anymore?
Thanks,
Neill
-
Yes I am having the same problem.
Ken
-
I keep getting a login error first then hit it again and it goes in.
-
Same here , having to login every time.
-
me too.
-
Thanks, the login page came up to stay login.
Ken
-
I use WWB icon on homescreen. I removed it, logged on , added new icon to home screen. Now i stay logged in.
-
It worked, Mikey!
Thanks :)
-
This is a pain.
Every time I access WWB via my bookmarks toolbar, I get a "Dear Guest" heading and have to log in.
I'm going to try the Mikey fix.
-
i did not try mikey's fix.......... :D
all you need to do is clear the session id cookie....it is simple. if you are using firefox, go to 'tools', select 'options' from the menu. select the 'privacy' tab.
you will see 'YOU MAY WANT TO CLEAR YOUR RECENT HISTORY OR REMOVE INDIVIDUAL COOKIES'. click on 'remove individual cookies'. brings up a menu for website cookies stored on your puter. find WWB folder (just scroll down) (worldwidebeekeeping.com).
remove this cookie:
worldwidebeekeeping.com (cookie name) PHPSESSID
click on it (highlights it) and select 'remove selected'.

log back in with your username and password.
-
I was going through withdrawal, wasn't pretty  Thanks for taking care of the WWB site, it is truly
appreciated.
-
The Mikey fix didn't work for me. Probably my poor skills.
Will try the the Riverbee fix.
" A thousand curses on the outsiders who buggered up the WWB site " Their ears should have shriveled up with some of my recent cuss words.
-
I had noticed when i wasn't staying logged in, when i clicked on WWB icon and site would come up with the login boxes at top right that if i went to the left and clicked on the big WWB banner it aromatically logged me in.
-
Tried the Mikey fix again. Worked this time. Thanks.
Now a new problem. .... When I click on "Show unread posts ...." I get "No posts since last visit" BUT if I then click on the option "Show unread posts" the recent unread posts head the list.
-
Why can't I post anything in the chat input ?
Why is there a gap in chat between the 14th and 18th ?
-
No one chatted between those dates is all. Not sure why you can't post there though?
-
barbarian don't forget to hit the 'SEND' button when you post a chat.............. :D or just hit 'enter' on your keyboard ;D
like perry said, chat has been quiet on some days.......you need to fire it up.......... :D :D
-
Sorry ..... me again.
I still can't get the "show unread posts..." to display.
-
don't apologize barbarian..........
what operating system are you using and what browser?
are you using a laptop or other?
-
I am using a Commodore 64.
Sorry again. That's the response I give to scammers. ;D
My laptop is a HP Compaq CQ61.
I subscribe to "if it ain't bust -- don't fix it". I am using Windows 7.
I use Mozilla Firefox.
-
commodore 64? well hades, take that out and set it on fire or take a sledge hammer to it and then set it on fire........... :D
"I subscribe to "if it ain't bust -- don't fix it". I am using Windows 7.
I use Mozilla Firefox."
some would subscribe to 'fix it until it is broke'........... :D :D :D
i am using win 7 and firefox barbarian. are you clicking on the top right 'Show unread posts since last visit.'
if so, this comes up blank? or do you have a message that reads 'no unread posts'. ?
-
It is still coming up blank.
Message is "no unread TOPICS since last visit. Click here to see all unread Topics"
When I click here a list of all unread POSTS comes up. That's where I found your Commodore 64 reply.
-
barbarian did you accidentally click on 'mark all messages as read' ?
-
I have the same issue as barbarian
-
okay thanks neil, and thanks for chiming in!
at this point i am unsure as to what the issue is? neil, are you using firefox as well?
-
fire fox recently came out with a 64 bit version that doesn't support all the plugins that the 32 bit version did. it also wants to load McAfee as virus scanner.
-
My thanks, also, Neil
I am very relieved. I was starting to feel even more paranoid. ;D
Thanks, also, Apis.
I usually install Firefox updates when I get a screen prompt.
No doubt someone will be able to tell me how to check which version I have installed.
"Joseph !! --- Joseph !! (grandson)" "GET UP" ...... Off from college, he's having a sleepover lay in this morning.
-
Joseph here, Barbarian is on the latest 32-Bit version of Mozilla Firefox.
Everything seems to be working but may have some issues again.

hi joseph, thanks for chiming in on barb's behalf........... :D
i think what these issues comes down to is a few variables; 1......we moved to a secure http; 2.......your browser and tweaking settings and behavior for your browser.
if all members on the forum were having the exact same issue, it would most likely be a 'forum issue'. for a couple or a few, then it is a 'browser issue'.
when WWB moved to a new server, (i use firefox), i had to clear my cache and cookies to be able to sign in as i had done so in the past, otherwise, i kept getting an error message that my password was incorrect (it wasn't). once i did this, no problem signing in.
sorta complex issues nowadays with different browsers and learning how to tweak them.
if something isn't working correctly we are always here to help/troubleshoot as best we can.......... :)
-
I have had to go into the browsers security settings and turn off most of the security options. in both Firefox and Opera browsers.
