Title: My 6 week project
Post by: tedh on September 29, 2017, 09:27:50 pm
That has now taken 14 weeks and almost double the cost.

It's 16x24 made up of two seperate rooms, one room will be for making maple syrup, hence the cupola, and the other room will be for bee storage and extracting honey.  I'm glad I  don't make a living as a carpenter, we'd starve.  Ted

A very nice job, give yourself some pie buddy, I would be thrilled to have something like that. :eusa_clap:

Thanks guys. It's down to the "fun" stuff now.  Wooden frames around the outside of the windows, just finished a brick hearth for the evaporater, going to "panel" the maple room with salvaged weathered barn siding. Should have the new evaporater by the end of October.  We hope to add a front and back porch with a single pitch roof eventually.  Should be a sweet little shack! Get it ?  Honey, syrup, sweet!?!  Ted

Looks like you knew what you were doing. going to need to build another as one hobby will take over the space of the other.

Like I suggested to Neil with his shed... A cozy cot with quilts and a pillow, perfect place for a nap

Thanks Everyone.  Jen, several years ago, I thought it would be neat to build a log cabin in that same area of the yard.  I drew up plans, had the number of trees I'd need, and the source for the trees,  and read as much about building one as I could.  I was just about to start cutting and debarking.  Then it dawned on me. What? I'm going to hang out there when I have a perfectly fine house with heat, AC, indoor plumbing, etc.  :) Nah!  Still have the plans in my sketck book.
