So how do you feed your nucs?
This works great and you can control the robbing and no dead bees like frame feeders.

Spring is going to be fun.

I do it the same way, but I use migratory style lids on everything and cut a hole for the mason jar to fit into.
It's worked good for me.

great photos glock! (enjoyed the colors!)
i do what you do, with the extra box on top, although, sometimes i will use an inverted 1 gallon plastic pail.
for water, i will use a boardman on the front entrance.

Looks good to me.

nice...
I have found with the jz nuc boxes that a quart baggie feeder fit nicely in the space at the very top of the box. sometime I will also use a tube feeder (really just a variation of a gravity feeder but with a very small tube built into the top < I often use one of those coffee stirring straws and a hot glue gun to make this modification) with I can insert thru the small slot in the jz's top.

I do the same, but with two fairly major differences: I use screen over the inner cover hole, so that I don't have any bees to shoo when I change jars. Also, I use large pickle jars so that they last a couple of days.

Hive top feeders for me . . .

I found jar feeder works well for general feeding. But to get my nuc's to draw comb and put up winter stores when there was little to no flow I had to use a hive top feeder.

I use a hive top feeder home made no drowning bees.

Good observation skydiver. This is also caused by ambient temperature outside the cluster. With the feed jar over the cluster, the bees have ready access to the syrup while they are clustered. In a hive top of frame feeder the bees need a warmer ambient temperature to break cluster and move to the syrup. So the bees when the temperature is favorable will bring the syrup near to the cluster to store and to build wax if empty cells are not available for wax storage.
