Hi all,
I'm gearing up to get my bee yard going again after my two dead outs this winter. I'm getting my wooden ware ready to go before I pick up the nuc I ordered (plus the swarms I hope to catch).
I got some migratory tops and realized that there doesn't seem to be any ventilation built into this design like the notch in my inner cover that I used with the telescoping lid.
Obviously this setup works for the commercial guys; do I need to drill a hole in the brood box or ???
Thanks-
Smokey

You can add an Imrie shim.

I use a inner cover with a notch with my migratory covers.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still not sure if its necessary.

In South Carolina probably not a necessity as you only get short periods of cold freezing weather. In northern climates over wintering out doors where the temp will stay below freezing for weeks even months, they are a must.

My migratory tops have the notch cut in them.
