Title: Beehive at the garden, garden at the bee yard.
Post by: keeperofthebees on February 15, 2014, 01:38:36 pm: If any of you find it helpful, I've noticed that deer & rabits don't want to go near a garden if theres a beehive in it/while the weather is nice & things are growing. Sure you have to wear your suit while you're tending the garden!!! The best part with a suit at the garden, is that skeeters can't eat you alive!!! It's a healthy balance of nature, what do you all think?... It's easy to hang a beesuit up by the porch door for when you go in the back yard.

White tail or mule deer? The white tails around my area hate bees in the summer.

I swear by the garden trick! Cows don't seem to go near them either! The dog does every once in awhile, but it doesn't take him long to run under the truck and enjoy the shade...lol

Sorry don't agree, have cow poop against the fence , 2-3 feet from the front of the hive. Also horse manure all along the fence line.... Haven't looked for deer tracks close to the hive, but they are all around the field next to my hops ( which they don't eat luckily)

Turns out a member of our association raises purely grass-fed beef. I bought two cows a while back. Had to buy another freezer, too. A chest-type freezer was full of nothing but hamburger. Other freezers full of steaks, ribs, etc. Yum yum! ($1.15/lb if I remember correctly).

Packaged beef transports better than on the hoof!

When i got married dad gave me a huge deep freezer one of the best wedding gifts ever. Now i think back on it one of those acts of making sure his lil girl was gonna be ok. sure do miss him.
