Title: Almost a Need to Canoe Back to the BEE YARD
Post by: blueblood on February 22, 2014, 02:36:00 pm
We have had several inches of snow melt all at once with rain atop of that.  This is what I had to wade through to get back to my bee yard!  Slipped on the knee high wading boots and off I went.

Well it looks like you were smart enough to place the hives in a high place so they will not be under water. Did you get to check your bees, the hives are still looking good.

Yep.  We've been getting reports from my wife's son in Greenwood, IN.   ;D  (He's got a job as a teacher already).

Yes, I picked the highest ground thank goodness.  I just returned to the house from checking on them again.  It was 57 today so I figured they took advantage of the warm air again.  We have a threat of 3" of snow tonight and low temps the next few days.  But, I saw positive activity out of 10 hives! 2 of them are my tbh and one the bee tree.  I lost 2 before winter and appears to be 4 during winter.  Not too bad.

Very odd weather in Indiana.  Like today being 57 and tonight inches of snow with a cold week ahead.  Ha!  Anyway, don't forget to hook up for a dinner or something if you visit.  Greenwood is 20 minutes from my back front door.  PM me sometime and I will pass along my cell.

If that refreezes, your going to need ice skates!  Is checking your bees a winter olympics sport?
