The hive my friend suspects the gourd bees came from was not as bad as these pictures show but no doubt was a contributing factor to the demise of his late dad's beeyard. I've had one case of wax moths but not this bad. He gathered all of these up and gave them to me. I cleaned them all and all the foundation / frames are now in a freezer. Going to do the same with the boxes as well.

Ugh. A lot of that will clean up nicely.
Are those ants in the last picture?

Red Wasp. Really bad boys that hurt a lot when they sting.

I would make another visit, see if there is an extractor or other bee junk. Might pick them up for cheap.

I think you rescued that equipment just in time. Nice deal. You will have to make sure the fella gets some honey.

Yeah, I promised them some honey.

In fact, he offered his dad's "bee gear" and I said I'd be glad to buy it from him. He's gathering it up and will call me when he's finished.

Nice score! Amazing some of the good folks you get to meet because of bees!
