Title: My 4 Hive's Status
Post by: DonMcJr on February 27, 2014, 01:22:38 pm
Well I haven't been able to go into them cause it's been artic cold but they came out and pooped during a warm spell last week...

I think I may have a Nosema Isuue...what do you all think.

The 1st two look alive and the 2nd two I'm not sure...

the first hive this is by far the worst. all the others look normal. considered treating them.

A lot of staining right around an entrance would concern me a bit as well. Spots all over the tops of a hive or in the snow not so much.

Ya don't say, I was pondering the same thing.  Created quite the discussion.  And, Hi Don! Are you all recovered now?  Check this thread out: http://www.worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/index.php/topic,941.0.html

I'm just like you Blueblood. I haven't used any Chemical's on my Bees and have the same attitude of " If no one treats them in a hollow tree in the wild then... 8) "

I want strong unsick survivor stock that makes it through the bad winters here. I believe that 1st hive is that stock as it has made it through 3 winters now if it's alive.

One has to remember this winter only went above 30 F TWICE since December 1st and if it never gets warm enough to leave and fly then they are gonna sit at the top entrance and poop! LOL!

If ya gotta go ya gotta go even if it's too cold to fly!

Had the same issue here. Around the end of November to the middle of February without a single break, then a day that was 50...  yellow everywhere..   Wear a hat if you go to look in on them on such a day!!   ;D
