Capped drone cells on March 20 in Central IL.
« on: March 30, 2014, 07:20:30 pm »
I checked hives today as the temps were n the low 60s. Got one overperformer that had 16 medium frames of brood and some capped drone cells already. Everything looked good except one that had lots of visible mites. Need to do something or they'll collapse soon, no DWV or k-wings that I saw and still had a good amount of activity outside and bringing loads of pollen in.

Sounds good.  We are pretty much done here in the mid west with the cold weather....I hope..

Went thru three hives here yesterday. Brooding up pretty good, lots of capped drone brood but haven't seen any drones yet. It's still a good 4 to 6 weeks before I'll try to raise a queen.
