Ammo box
« on: April 14, 2014, 10:17:36 pm »
I have been rigging up a way to haul stuff using my Jeep.  I have a little 5x8 trailer I haul behind my fourwheeler.  So I broke down and put a hitch on my TJ and I bought a hitch carrier for the times I just want to haul syrup and carry a few supers or a Nuc.  This has been working great.

To save room on the carrier I mounted an ammo box on the outside with U-bolts to carry tools and my smoker.  The problem is it isn't tall enough to carry the smoker with the lid shut.  I was just using the one I had on hands to test it out and it's one of the best things I have done, but I would like to find one tall enough.

I know I have read that several people use them.  I was wondering what size I should keep an eye out for for a large dadant size smoker.  Nothing here local to test out and ordering one on line is about as much as my Harbor Freight hauler.  I may not change out, but I am curious as to any specific size that other may be using.

smoker size is most closely related to hive numbers..  my 3" smoker almost never gets used any more. I use the bigger 4" one almost exclusively..   I understand that they are designed to go out when you need them the most, but the larger one seems to only go out the SECOND time I need it the most.

Wife is gone out of town.  She is a technology teacher at the high school and my little brother is the one at the middle school.  So that means I am illiterate when it comes to computers, too many years of hey come here and do this ;)  I'll try and see later on during the week to get some pics posted.  It weighs nothing and easy to take on and off.  I should have picked one up for the truck a lot sooner.
