Hi everybody, another newbee here. I got my first package of bees on April 13th and installed them in the beautiful top bar hive my husband built. The day before we picked up the package I caught my first smaller swarm in a top bar nuc we built. It's been an exciting 3 1/2 weeks and I'm sure I'll have lot's of questions. I'm looking forward to learning  everything I can from everyone here.

Welcome to the forum. :welcome:
I am going to have to try one of those TBVH's someday. They sure look like they would be a whole lot easier on the back.  ;)

Welcome Jones!  I started two tbh's along side my Langs to see how they would winter over.  We had one of the harshest winters in 100 years.  My tbh bees are thriving!  Just checked on them two days ago.  Very tight laying pattern.  I enjoy working them.  There are some of my tbh videos in the alternative hive thread section if interested.

Your husband built you a fine looking TBH with the inspection window it is like an observation hive, You can check on there progress and sit and watch inside the hive with out disturbing them hardly at all. Welcome to the form, how big was the swarm you caught compared to the package? and was it a 2 or 3 lb package? Keep posting the pictures, thanks.
