Do lizards eat bees?
« on: June 12, 2014, 01:15:48 am »
Ventured out tonight to take a pic of my bees on the porch and saw this skink. I love having lizards around. Was wondering if they eat bees?

buffet dinner every night?  i don't see why not.   One time in Thailand I saw a gecko trying to eat a horned beetle twice the size of it's own head.  The beetle got away, but nothing would surprise me after that, where lizard diets are concerned.
My advice: worth price charged :)

I never thought of that.  We have tons of lizards around the house.  Some have gotten huge the last few years.  I wonder if that is why...

We have lizards galore.  I didn't realize they ate spiders.  Actually, I never thought about a lizard's appetite.  A black widow spider bit me on my left thumb some years back.  I got immediate medical attention, and there were no lasting side effects.  I sure did turn my thumb BLACK.  Like someone said, I don't believe they would eat enough bees to harm the bee colony.  Like Clint Eastwood said in the Outlaw Josey Well's "everything's gotta eat."
