I hate those nasty suckers!  I saw a commercial for this tonight during Hee Haw.  I don't know how it works or if it works.  Just thought I'd post it to see if there's any feedback or info from experts here.

 Slowmodem ,buy one and see if it works and report back here and I will buy two or 3  if they do for I have them bad around here with holes every where, so many they are even brother the bees.

Hi Slow, I see of few of these big black shiny bees each year, why do you not like them? just curious...

If you have a log house or outbuildings with exposed wood and protected eaves, they like to bore holes into the wood.

Our house and shed are painted, so no. I do know that they bore big holes tho. Do they bite and/or sting?

Those traps work OK to reduce the population,  but will not eradicate it. To get them to work in any manner that will reduce the population, you have to make sure all the previous years holes are seal up.

They don't sting, but they bore into anything wooden and fill it full of tunnels, weakening the wood.

I keep a tennis racket next to the door, but a person can't get ahead that way.

Hey Jen, doesn't matter if the wood is painted or not they will still make a hole on the wood for a nest.

jen, carpenter bees can be confused with bumbles; the carpenter bees are much larger than bumbles, and have a shiny hairless back, whereas bumbles are hairy and more colorful.  if you had a problem with them boring holes, you would know it......thankfully we don't!
