alrighty....cheesecloth..........depends on what you what want for a final product........?

i would not use or recommend cheese cloth to strain honey.  (better use is for straining wax).

paint strainer bags are a great initial straining for honey. when i extract, the honey comes out of the extractor through a nylon filter bag similar to the paint strainer bag, and also a double sieve.  once settled, i strain once more, or once additionally, with a very fine nylon material purchased from my supplier; the strained honey is crystal clear.  ;)

Thanks for that Riv :) I wasn't too concerned about this cut out honey being that strained, just needed to get it out of the garage fridge. Hubby was getting annoyed not being able to fit his cold pack in without a lot of fuss, so he started the process whilst I was basking at the coast.

However, when the day comes that I can sell my honey down town, I'll be straining it more thoroughly.... or not. Not sure yet  ;)

the one I am talking about is when there are no unread posts under "Show new replies to your posts." OR "Show unread posts since last visit."   When either of those is empty it asks you to try ALL unread posts..  I click on that and find a LOT of posts I have never seen before.

I've been looking for a post like this.  I have a friend that works in a lumber mill and he runs the main saw.  One day a few years ago he sawed through a bee tree that the logger accidentally sent in.  There were no bees left in it but there was honey.  The mill workers scrambled to collect the honey comb and filled a 5 gal bucket.  I will be visiting him soon with a paint strainer.  Thanks a lot!

Sure thing Bella, it's pretty easy, just takes time to let the honey drain. Give youtube a try as well, there are vids on how others do the 'crush and strain'   ;)
