144 dry days have come to an end

This morning we had our fist precipitation, heralding the start of the new winter rainy season.  We got only 0.2  mm rain, but considering that we last saw rain on the 8th of May, it was very welcome.
Love that smell of fresh rain on the ground.
Here's hoping and praying that this winter will give us plenty of rains, distributed in patterns that allow the ground to soak it up and bring those nectar-filled flowers in thir wake.

 Glad you got some rain after so long a period, will pray you get more, I have only gotten a 1/2 inch here in the last 2 months and the bees are not likeing that, although they did get the supers and a medium full before the drought hit them.

California is predicted to be a dry if not dryer than this year..... siiiiiiiigh.

But ya know? My bees managed to make ample honey for themselves and a little left over for me. I'm real impressed at how hard they worked this season

I wasn't aware that it was so arid there.  I know the areas around there are desert, but I thought being the land of milk and honey, and next to the sea, you'd have more rain.  Learn something new every day!

This is what the Mediterranean climate means--dry summer (no rain) and wet winter.  The trouble is that our past several winters haven't been very rainy.  Usually we get a years' worth of rain in the winter months and enjoy knowing that it won't rain "tomorrow" morning all summer.  It lets us leave a lot of things outdoors without worry about getting ruined by the rain.  But, truth to be told, I'd be happy if we had some summer rains too.
