One mans trash....
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:05:08 pm »
My family sold there business and while cleaning out the building they said "We have no idea what to do with that" I spoke up and said "I think I know what I can do with it"  :)

I'm not one to love trash, and I've always thought the old saying about "one man's trash is another man's treasure" was first said by some lazy, low life that didn't want to keep a clean house.  That being said, I think all of us would love to have the trash that you happened upon.  Good find!

I got my garage freezer for $25 or $30 and Restore (the habitat for humanity store).  Works fine, actually held the temp at zero last winter. Did n't want to fill it full of meat without a test.

I love ReStore! We have gleaned many parts from this store for hubby's dad's old house, and lots of other stuff as well.

Unfortunately, our local ReStore, one hour away from our town, has turned into a trash store, tables of paperback books n'such

Great find Yankee
I am surprised they did not come looking for it. Up here the companies give "lone" the freezer or display to sell there product.

Had a counter top Pepsi display cooler that was 15 years old when the fan died. The Pepsi service rep said it was ours and that we would need to fix it or throw it out. So I replaced the fan motor and 2 years later when renovations were done to the store and it was no longer needed Pepsi wanted it back. Because it was working.

Apis, did they pay for the repairs.

BTW, this freezer doesn't work, just using it to store frames ;)

That is true Apis..   When John Deere gave my family two weeks notice they were closing all dealerships that were not in the county seat.. they wanted their sign...  My grandfather argued with them, told them he PAID for the sign, and that they were not getting it back until he was repaid for it. They told him they had no responsibility to repay him for something that belonged to the company, he had only paid for the rights to hang it..  He went inside as they set up their ladder.. a moment later he came out with a shotgun in his hands..   Let me tell you, those fellas SCRAMBLED like scooby doo when he smells burgers..   I was about 20 at the time, and my heart was pounding when that shotgun went off..   He emptied all five rounds into the sign...
Those fellas picked up EVERY piece of it.. AFTER he put the gun away....

Yank.. I bet it wouldnt take a lot to make that freezer work again.. i have been keeping my eyes open for JUST such a deal!

If they come to get it, I'll drill a hole in the side of it and make it an observation hive.

See how bad they want it. :D
