Want to post this
« on: October 11, 2014, 11:24:32 pm »
My youngest sons marine 11th MEU that deployed to the 7th fleet with the Makin Island ARG has been moved a month ago from Malaysia where they was training and sent to the middle east in the north Arabian sea and gulf of Omar.  He is now in Bahrain for a few days where we finally got the word of where he is at. Family is no longer able to share or identify our military family members on Facebook for our safety. ISIS is monitoring Facebook looking for potential victims of military members family to attack here in the states. The air wing of the group the USS Makin Island a small class carrier is using the osprey and cobras for missions in Iraq on a daily basis. Tyler is in a AAV (amphibious Assault vehicle) and is setting at sea waiting for the call to go when they finally put boots on ground. as a parent it is rough.  When we put him on a plane at the end of his leave there is a Strong sense of pride for what your sons are doing and along with it a stronger sense of fear you may not get the chance to put him on a plane to go back again. I'm a typically strong person and have found doing this the hardest thing I have experienced n life.  My wife is unable to go to the airport with him and he really doesn't want her to go.  Its a little father marine son time. anyhow We have lost one out of his group in an accident. my son is on the USS Comstock an Amphibious assault ship. CPL Jordan Spears was lost at see taking off from the Makin island as a crew chief on the v22 osprey. The craft went down into the sea one crew chief survived and was rescued with injury's. The Pilot was able to regain power and get the craft out of the sea and back onto the Ship. Which shows the skills these young pilots have.  This is the same style aircraft my oldest son is a crew chief on. He was in this young mans unit while stationed at pendleton and  would be with them but was moved to Japan a year ago. He is currently in Malaysia training to go with the 31st MEU to the gulf on the Bonham Richards ARG where he will be flying into Iraq. I have the story of The young man lost listed below please pray for this young mans family, comrades, and friends. This is the 2nd time my son has seen a loss of a marine while doing exercises. He is like his dad and keeps it all in and we don't hear many details. After he was sent to the area most contacted stopped.  Here is a link to the story for cpl Jordan Spears a young 21 year old  marine whose life long dream was to serve his country. Please don't turn this into a political debate its not the intent.  I just think some things need reported when a hero goes down and the press doesn't deem it news worthy .

Thank you for that report Riverrat, my heart goes out to you and your family. We haven't had to deal with these situations with our son, however, I remember clearly what my family went thru when my brother was sent to Viet Nam. Prayers for your family ~

thanks for sharing what's going on.

i pray for this young marine that was lost at sea and i pray for his family.  recovery to send him home is very, very unfortunate. (an understatement) i can't imagine the family's  grief.

The only hope I see for this world lies with these young men and women, in the military and outside of it, they are our future. I cannot imagine the agony of not knowing where your child is, and for his safety and yours I understand why it needs to be that way.

Blessings of peace.  Taps.  God is nigh.

I have experienced that feeling of pride, and fear. It is a feeling that is hard to describe or make understood.
We should all think of and remember the heroes that serve, and we should all consider those parents, wives, husbands and children of our enlisted to be just as much the hero.

I'll probably get in trouble for this, but the only solution i see for the trouble over there is to make a big parking lot Now. It will probably come to that anyway. Jack
