False perceptions
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:43:31 am »
Hive one I alway thought to be the strongest, yet will have generated 4 frames of honey I will/ have extracted and reduced to bottom 2 brood chambers. Hive 2 I thought to be weaker but has 2 deeps to harvest, with two brood chambers honey in both chambers. Hive one nearly propolized the upper entrances closed, inverted bottom board, and using bee escape to passively harvest. ( had to perform minor surgery to slightly enlarge hole in inner covers, contacted Mann lake about the error they offered to replace them I thanked them said no.)

I have a couple of the bee escapes, but doubt they will ever be used again now that I make my own stuff..
Glad to hear that one of your hives produced well, even if it was not the one you expected!

Thank you lazy, I've always used bee escapes. Preferable to bee go, or banging the bees out like I observed in upstate New York, ohh bees were pleasant...

Took 4 partially capped frames, looking like half a gallon of honey.  No nectar or partially cured honey, suspect is Spanish needle light carmel color, excellent taste. Pictures to follow shortly.
