Its a start. 2 rooms, 336 square feet and the price was right. FREE, trick was we had to have it moved about 40 miles. We got it done and now we will
finish out the front room and make an extracting room. Make the back room storage./grafting room.

Full disclosure- My dad owned a business and lost his battle with Cancer this summer. He sold his business right before and during his passing. This building was not wanted so we were asked if we would like to have it for the bees.  :) I said hmmm, let me think about it yes.

14x24, not huge but it's much bigger than garage and kitchen.

1st thing going in is Vinyl flooring. It's already wired with lights and outlets. Just have to hook to it.

Glad to see you got it, sure will help in keeping things more in order, I say do you have a salt block for the deer are do you have cows around.

Lol, Come on Perry nice try there. I'm not even close to filling you shoes.  ;)

Jen, just so you know, we left a bunch of the capped dark honey frames in those hives. if they dont need it over winter we will be pulling it in spring and extracting it replacing with new frames. So, there might be some of it available come spring.

But, as far as my luck goes this year, I am even shaking my head back and forth. It's been a crazy summer.

OK, your not gonna believe this.

In the pictures of the building above. Look down at the tree line and you'll see 2 white hives. On the other side of that tree line I have about 18 hives facing into a 110 acre field. Now this field has just been growing wild. A farmer just leased it and was planting winter wheat yesterday. I was feeding hives and he pulled up to meet me. We were talking and I asked him if he was gonna plant anything after the wheat harvest in the spring/early summer.

I swear he said " Well I am thinking  about planting 110 acres of SUNFLOWERS" I couldn't believe he said that. I was telling him about the other farmer I have hives with, planting Canola instead of winter wheat. He perked up when I said that. Now imagine 110 acres of canola followed by sunflowers right in my back yard :D

Have you ever done something that felt like it was just meant to bee?

That is a nice portable building.  It is well built and should serve you for many years.  As many years as you need it.  I have seen honey house plans, and it looks like you enough space to make a great one.  You have been very fortunate this year, and you will need to remember that the next time a hardship occurs.  It looks like  you are off to a fantastic 2015.  Good on you.

I'm a believer in Karma Yankee11! ;)

I have everything I need but a honey house to set up in. I've got the land with a well and septic, all the equipment I think I'll need (maybe a tweek here and there), some great yards, etc.
I have been doing my extracting in the basement again this year, lugging every single super to be extracted down a flight of stairs and then back up again.
My honey "shack" is full of supers and other beekeeping stuff, no room to extract in there, never mind doing much in the way of woodwork. Looks like I'll be doing some of my carpentry in my Nova Scotia woodshop, the great outdoors!  :laugh:

It seems the stars are aligned for Yankee.  By the way, it's hard to imagine a Yankee in Arkansas.  There are plenty of plans for honey houses, so take your time and think it out and get it right the first time.  That looks to be a well built building.  I would say good luck, but that seems so after the fact.  Good luck anyway.
