Got a call from Crowley's last week and met with them on Sunday, went out today to start setting up stands for 12 hives, and the county store  will be selling  the honey that is produced there from the 12 hives.

My neighbor and I now have "permanent"  hive stands at 2 small farms.  They do not pay for pollination.  We get our honey and have full access to the areas containing our hives.  Each of the farmers has been involved in beekeeping and has found that between city jobs and farm work, tending to bees and keeping them alive is more than they can manage.  One of the farms purchased all of my modest production from that place (at my regular asking price) to sell along with their produce.

I wonder how often this is happening and if it is becoming a trend?

What are they growing there, some kind of grapes or berries?

yes thats all the grape vines, and I found out the place backs up to Myakka state park as well so tons of wild area for the bees 8-)

no this is not the ranch, I have not even had a chance to go out there yet, this is yet a new yard offered up, going to start with 12 hives there and see how it goes.

its about 25 miles directly east of me in myakka valley Tec, perfect timing too, I need to get some of the hives out of my back yard, I was planning on having 4 in my yard and have 18 there now lol

yep at some time numbers in your back yard (and front yard and side yard) make an out yard a necessity.

I myself like having out yards when spring time nuc making takes place.... it just make the organization much more simple to move nucs you made up from one place to somewhere not so far away and then everything there gets some blanket treatment (cells, mated queen).

Very nice! I especially love it when you can get a vehicle right up alongside a row of hives like that. Less carrying heavy supers.  :mrgreen:

Not even the new year and all ready have honey supers on some of them. Looks nice with bees there.

I have 1 super on almost every hive, there is no time of year that I dont, they still put nectar and pollen away even now just slower and I dont want them to backfill the brood boxes and go into swarm mode
