Alaska looks like a fantastic trip.  I love the TV shows of Alaska.

However when it gets too hot here, we just head up to own cheaper version of Alaska.... the Upper Peninsula of Michigan  ;D

we are finally going to alaska this summer lee, and looking forward to it!

That's a trip of a lifetime, river!  What part are you going to?
We went about 10 years ago.  I was offered a job just outside of Denali.     The owner of a food trailer, the kind like you would see at the state fair, was chatting with me.  I mentioned that I had tons of food experience.  He complained he couldn't find anyone with food experience and offered me a job.  He was serious!  His was working on perfecting deep fried oreos.  He called them Okey Dohs.

One of those Alaskan shows takes place on the Tanana River. There is a long interesting history there.  They hold the Nenana Ice Classic.  http://www.newsminer.com/news/alaska_news/breakup-tripod-falls-on-the-tanana-river/article_80a4a176-ccde-11e3-bfd7-0017a43b2370.html  Check it out.

Fried Oreos, what will humanity think of next.  LOL.  Wonder if that attract the bears.

A local used car dealer used to put a junk car on the frozen river that runs though my town every winter and sell lottery tickets to guess the date that it would fall through the ice.  I’m guessing the EPA eventually halted that and now we tax payers will probably get a hefty bill to remove the old cars from the river bottom..

An Oreo is about one million calories.  Wouldn't a fried Oreo lead to instant artery clogging?  Sounds good.

A friend of mine does a fish fry every year. We work hard at catching enough cats for that fry.. when the time comes, we do snickers bars, pickles, all sorts of stuff.. This year, we did cinnamon rolls and OREOS...     I am here to tell you.. I ate a cinnamon roll before it got deep fried, i couldnt see wasting it that way... but then the oreos got fried, and I GREATLY regretted filling up on the cinnamon roll..  I still had a dozen deep fried oreos..   Double stuff no less... I was doubly stuffed!

Fried pickles are an appetizer at many of the nicer restaurants in Fort Worth.  They are delicious.

LOL, that second one is priceless.

I used to jog in HS, but I’m glad I gave that up as I got older.  Logic would suggest that running any machine to its limits is never a good idea if you want it to last!

Besides that, there’s no way all that pounding of the knees can be a good thing.

Now I only run if I've upset the bees and don't have a bee suit on  ;D
