Winter loosened her grip!
« on: February 22, 2015, 03:49:18 pm »
At least for one day.

We hit 40 here today in RI and the girls were out flying and pooping.

Tomorrow and for the rest of the week we will be at zero, but at least they got a break for a day.

I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

Warm here today, but rain, so no real help.

we started the day with snow and then the skies cleared up.  two dead nucs and three dead colonies so far.  8 left that seem to be going strong.

Temp today didn’t reach 30 degrees. Another blast of polar air moving in now. Low tonight -10 with high tomorrow zero degrees. The rest of week low down 10 to 20 below zero with a nasty chill factor. I wont see any kind of warm up till the middle part of March. Next 3 weeks could bring some heavy amount of snow too with snow moving in Tuesday night. My worst month of year is coming up now. I didn’t get any kind of thaw this winter. Snow is so deep in the field. All I can see now on some of the deer in the back woods is their heads sticking up. Last night I heard a pack of coyotes killing something. I have couple guys in now with dogs tracking coyotes. So far this winter they have taken out 73 coyotes in my area. I guess they get good money for the pelts. They can kill them all. What good are they.

Looks like a pretty handy shim/feeder and apparently the bees have been into the that sugar. Nicely done!

I like the 1/2 hardware cloth you placed into the shim!
Keeps chunks from falling to the bottom.
