queen cages on plastic foundation. it worked

I grafted a bunch of queens and I left a couple frames in the cell builder and they raised a bunch of rogue queens. around 30 of the, :-)

I couldn't stand the idea of loosing all of them so I made up about 15 of these little cages out of #8 hardware cloth. It worked, I was able to catch 14 to 16 queens. I lost count. I just pushed them into the comb. Come back and check and there would be a queen walking around. Remove the queen and put her in a roller cage then release her in a nuc or queen castle. Lol, I had queens popping like pop corn. "hey theres one, opps theres another"

Good thinking!!    OMG!     An advantage to plastic?  No way!  hehe, the bees cant dig under when the cages are up to the plastic.

I had the same thing happen in my incubator the other day.
The queens were to emerge on a Monday, well I looked in the incubator Sunday morning and had several queens running around on the floor of the incubator.
I caged them and fed them and they were happy little critters.

My 10 bay queen castle is full, my 4 bay queen castle is full, my 20 nuc boxes are full. 

I am out of starter boxes. Wow that happened fast.

Great idea!  Thanks for sharing.  Would you mind sharing the dimensions of your cags?  One can guess, but it might save some wasted effort to know your cage dimensions.  Thanks!   :-)
