I don't know, maybe it's justified. They probably did have to use a ladder.  ;D

as far as I can discern from reading this there is ABSOLUTELY NO information to inform anyone of the educational level of the people making the decision concerning the cost of removing these bees.   as far as I know there are no educational qualifications to be elected to the board of education.  I myself always question the sanity of anyone that decides to run for public office... of any sort or anywhere.  however.... you would think when some topic is outside a person's comfort zone that they just might ask someone that knew something about the specific topic in which they are not comfortable????  a good bet would be that the dollars went to some one related to the folks making the decision to remove the bees.

Correct, tec, but substitute intelligence for where you used education and I would have to disagree with you on that portion.

When I get the photo uploaded of my new car, I'll show you what They Bought Me !!! 8)
Just Kidding. I offered to get in touch with THEM to help the school. Would have just done it free. Little did I know it would have made a nice dent in the tuition I've been paying. Their cost is about 40k yr. Private !
I drive through it a couple time a week. Tim

a private christian college... so in fact the decisions may well be made by a preacher.

being a private college everything cost more although the education is likely to be second rate.

Bee removal is one thing... But, come on folks, they ALSO "closed the entry points".  That's at least, what, $10 worth of expanding foam, $8 for a possible bag of mortar, another $5 for tin flashing, plus ?5? hours of labor (@$75/hr) to close it all up?  Do the math... $30,000 is a STEAL!

Hold on there a minute Tec, I don't know if you are kidding or not, but you may be making too many assumptions. Have you looked at the tuition of A&M lately? I know several private schools that are less expensive than that. And just because it's private doesn't mean the education is second rate. However, I will say whether it's an educational institution or government agency, people tend to lose sight of reality when it comes to spending other people's money and I'll bet it happens at A&M, we just don't know about it. The longer you are in the system the less you are concerned about spending money that is not yours. On the other hand, let's not forget the company who see's an opportunity to take advantage of a situation by actually charging that much for the service. They are certainly at fault here as well.

by national standards A&M and all the old land grant institutions are very inexpensive institutions to attend.  of course if you are including 'on line' university in this choice then certainly you can save a buck but the quality of education is extremely low or perhaps even non existent.  we (my wife and I) have assisted several family members in their wish to attend 'upper tier' private universities and since I reviewed these folks yearly budget I know exactly what those kind of institutions cost.  basically if you take the tuition cost here and multiply this by 3 you have a pretty good estimation of cost (per whatever time line you might wish to consider).  generally the smaller the institution the larger the $ cost of tuition.  further more  a quality eduction is as much about the individual attending as the institution itself < personal association made while in attendance is something that is a bit more difficult to put some $ figure.  truthfully I can see much the same incident happening here (Texas A&M) since now such decisions are made by very well connect political insiders who seem totally oblivious that their decision might have the appearance of nepotism or cronyism attached.

Whats 30 grand for a college to pay out to get rid of some bees. The students pay out more in tuition cost.
