quebec bee excluder

I put my quebec bee excluder on today. (under a deep full of honey) How long do I leave it on for all of the bees to be out of the deep?

Minimum 24 hrs. I often leave mine on for 2 days or even longer if I'm busy. The longer the fewer bees that are in there when you pick it up. No SHB here (yet) to worry about messing things up.

Just check that the bees are not finding another entrance in in 24 hrs. If your boxes are new and in good shape. you should not have a problem. If you use inner covers with a notch Make sure that they are closed off by the lid being tight against them. Nothing is worse than going back and finding other bees have made off with your honey crop. its not as bad if it your own colonies but feeding the neighbors bees and yellow jackets hurts.

Last month I was helping my grandson with some of his hives.  I'm embarrassed to say it, but  :-[ some of his deep supers were so full of honey that I couldn't lift them on my own.
They were really heavy, but this was the first time I ever came across supers I couldn't lift. 
I think the passage of time has something to do with this situation.......

Oh no, your Fine Ef...  I think as time passes there is something about the gravitational flux that makes things seem heavier than they are. THis phenomenon seems a little more deal withable when lovely young ladies are watching... not sure why that is???

I'm 40 and work in construction, and even for me some deep supers are too heavy to throw around.  I can do it, but then I can't walk straight the next day.  When I have to put on escape boards under 3 supers, I always get help.
