Honey Display
« on: September 05, 2015, 06:11:58 am »
Finally have been to display some the honey.  Our friend who let us put our bees on their property also owns a hair salon and said she would love to help sell the product.  We first just was selling the 1 and 2 pound bottles.  My wife made some lotion for our friend for a Christmas gift and she said that would be a good seller.  So we just got around to making that and she sold half of what we made in less than a week.  We also thought we would try some myth jars.  Muth jars was my idea but I give credit to the wife for the design work.

Iddee, I read the post.  I did take the pics vertically with my smartphone.  I just rotated them 90 degrees and reuploaded to the thread.  Why no change?

Riverbee will have to answer that, but I think it has to be rotated in a computer instead of on the phone.

a thanks to g3 for 'fixing' your pics gt........... ;)

first, to answer apis and curtchann's observation about the photographs going to the post image page..........this happens when either a photo is cropped too small on a smart phone or personal computer OR a member does not choose 'DO NOT RESIZE MY IMAGE' when uploading through Post Image and possibly chooses 'avatar' or 'thumbnail' in the post image options.  we can not fix the size of these photos, only rotate them.

i looked at the 'properties' of these photographs and they were 102 x 180 pixels=very small.  this small size will give members the post image page with no larger photograph.

"I did take the pics vertically with my smartphone.  I just rotated them 90 degrees and reuploaded to the thread.  Why no change?"

gt, how did you rotate these on your smartphone? if you turned your smartphone 90 degrees, or used the features on a smart phone to rotate,   pictures will not upload as you see them on the smart phone.  any picture taken vertically from a smart phone and uploaded to the forum will not display correctly (they will display sideways) and we will have to manually fix them.
if you want to upload directly from your smart phone, and not having them upload side wise, consider taking photographs horizontally and cropping as necessary, or do as iddee suggested and rotate them on a pc before uploading. hope this helps somewhat?

i use muth jars, three sizes, these jars are awesome sellers for me starting now and through christmas.  i can get 15 bucks for a 1lb. muth jar, they look great, are awesome jars and customers love them!

lol..........PAINT?!.................. :D
that program annoys me sometimes, but hey if it works for you guys GRRREAAAT!!!!,
i didn't include that program in my instructions, but it does work, so, good to hear what you guys you are using!!!!
btw whine, i love it when guys whine.......... :D :D

gttr.....AWESOME! you did fix the pics! very cool, love the labeling!!!!

gttr and zweefer, i sell the 4 ounce, the 8 oz and the 1lb muth jars.  the 4 ounce for me really is for special occasions like showers and weddings, etc, but have sold them as stocking stuffers for christmas.  it doesn't matter, for me, they all sell well. some of these, can't remember which one,  has 'pure honey' imprinted on the top of the cork lid.....pretty cool. the 4 ounce muth jars went through a time where they were hard to get, but now most suppliers carry them.  just decide what your market is, who you want to target with them, and go from there.  also these are expensive to ship and any breakage is not covered; i have never had a problem but............so order from a supplier close to you.

also, my suggestion with these is put a hang tag on them as gttr did......don't cover up  what is on the front of the jar with a label, (the skep and pure honey). some beeks do, but if you ask me, it takes away from the jar itself.  the beeswax dipped corks are awesome!  i don't do this but purchase shrink wraps made especially for each size of these jars, and most suppliers carry them, just slip them on and hit them with a heat gun.

i get mine from b and b honey farm, (they don't always carry the 4 oz)........but other suppliers are blue sky, dadant, brushy mountain, kelley, mann lake...etc.......

one more thing, do not sell these like you would a plastic jar............do not undersell yourself.  these jars are pretty cool and i don't have anyone bat an eye for a 1lb jar selling at 15 bucks........

good luck!

The jars look great, the labels are top of the line and the honey looks beautiful.
A winning combination.
I hope your crop is large enough to meet the demand you'll undoubtedly have for your honey.

Beauty products made from "fruits of the hive" will unquestionably sell well, especially if you've got them on display in a beauty salon.   :goodjob:
