This is the typical floor hand we have on the big oil rigs.  This one is a good hand.  I just found the picture and thought I would share it.

Looks like a good guy to have on your side.

This guy is a real man.  He is so young and pleasant, that I hope he never changes.

We were on a job with him in the Texas, Panhandle, and we were tripping pipe in a cold rain (30 degrees F, rain and wind).  This fellow who has a name, but we all call him "big-un."  I was on the rig floor waiting to pull the BHA onto the floor and he looked up at me and said:  "I'm proud of you boss.  At your age, you could be home in bed with your wife, but here you are out on this rig with the real men."  They are a special breed on men, and if I ever have to completely retire, I will sorely miss them.

Reminds me of my younger days in Louisiana, 30-40 years ago. I mostly worked construction on the rigs and refineries as a pipefitter/welder.  I have always loved building things. At the end of the day you can look at the progress and feel good about it.
