On very low swarms I will lay the frames on their side under the swarm first shake the bees off the tree or in my case thump the bees off the fence brace onto the frames then just put the frames into the hive with the bees on them.

He needs to set up a trail cam to notify him when a swarm lands.

Those pines are bee catchers for sure! Like clockwork.  Maybe I should market a look a like plastic tree for bee yards.  "Pine Grabber" the honeybee swarm catchers.  4 easy payments of $19.99! Ha! QVC, home shopping network.......

Apis, the trail cam is a great idea! That would be cool if the cam could notify me via text.  But, if it happened while I was at work, I would worry to now end, ha!

An old Russian swarm device called the "Scion" - (Привой и роевня) looks interesting to me.   Doubt it would work as well as your trees Blue, but interesting nonetheless.  :)

I have thought about making one of these, what do you all think?  I wonder if those baseball sized swarms that come to my apiary would alight on a device like this?  About half of those swarms land in trees and half on my hives in usurpation attempts.

first swarm went left to a bald cypris and this years went right to a small cedar, easy peasy! but, they read this post so I'm sure next year will be different.

I got a call at work recently from my Mom.  "Your Dad is out catching a swarm in the yard."  By the time I got home, he had captured two swarms.  We ended up with four swarms, prompting desperate orders to Kelley's for more boxes.  Three of them stuck around.  So now I'm up yo seven hives.  Sheesh! Why can't them bees wait till I get home from work to swarm!  I thought I had enough extra boxes, but I guess you never really do.

Your right Modem! I have ran out of all Langs.  I have six or seven nuc boxes left.  I will probably have to order more equipment.  I am going to look up plans for an 8 frame plywood box made like the plywood Coates.
