I'm tired of feeling like a dishrag
« on: August 28, 2016, 11:20:44 pm »
I am so done with summer!   The heat, humidity or heat index whatever they call it now.  Just standing still watering plants with a hose is cause for me to melt into a puddle.  Broccoli, cabbage and lettuces all bolted due to the heat. Strawberries never gave me a second harvest, they are frying.  The only plants that are thriving are the peppers and tomatoes.  I am ready for fall colors, the smell of pumpkin and opening up the windows!! 🎃🎃🎃🍂🍂🌬🌬. Lucky me, we get to move my sister back to Florida in two weeks, aack!

i am not ready for summer to end, like you i do not like humidity......i can tolerate heat, but not both..........on the flip side i do not like freezing arse cold, sub zero temps, blowing snow that is waist high......and oh not to mention falling on my arse and new hardware in any ice or snow.......... :D :D :D

so les, you can be a double dish rag when you wind up in florida this time of year and then you will really have something to 'rag' about............ :D :D :D

i like fall but i sure don't like what soon comes after it!

Our summer heat seems to have broken a bit.  Out temperatures are in the low 90's this week and next week.  That's cool for us.  We always have low humidity.  Like Les, I don't like high humidity.  The coastal plains of Texas are the most miserable heat one can imagine.  The temps are cooler, but the humidity just kills a person.

We don't have a bad season, but many of my Yankee friends claim we don't have four seasons.  According to my Ohio buddy, we have summer and a cool intermediate break before the next summer.  Oh, and we never get to raise our windows in West Texas.  A raised window will bring more dust into one's home than can be cleaned.  West of I-35 in Texas the dust is a part of one's life.  We love dust. NOT

I do wish we had the colorful autumn colors seen in the more northern areas.  Iddee's NC has nice autumn foliage on the trees.

Anyway, I hope Les and Riverbee get their wishes.

Hi Les, I think we are getting the same weather! Hot, humid and crazy dry! My poor garden is limping along. I have given up on the hair straightener too! Curly it is!

I'm wishing and hoping for a nice long Fall. We had a nice long spring, it was nice. Guess I had better check the almanac for what kind of winter is predicted for us west coasters. Crossing fingers for another rainy winter ~

It's surprising how quickly one's deodorant can turn on you!  After an afternoon of working the hives and cleaning the garage yesterday, I know I needed a shower!  By the time the husband came home from work I apologized and hit the shower.

Women with straight hair curl it.. women with curly hair straighten it..   LOVE your hair!!  Imagine it was STRAIGHT and you paid a LOT of money to have it curled like that!!   ;D

Good philosophy LazyBkpr.  I burned most of my length off with one perm too many in about 1999, and haven't curled it since, learn to love and get it cut once in awhile....

I love spring and fall in Texas, Winter is ok.  I am AT 35W and it does get humid especially after a rain.  Which runs the temp feeling up

Ohhhh ...

We don't talk about perms in my house.

Not in 35 years ...

I'll never make a hair style suggestion again

Wife has naturally curly hair, but thought a little more curl would be nice. I suggested a change, and the hair dresser promised the minimum perm.

She claims she looked like a red Brillo pad afterwards. I thought she looked fine. She thought she looked like an "old lady."  I thought she looked fine.

Many tears, three or four shampoos, two more visits to the hairdresser, and no change.

We were going out with her coworkers that night. All this happened in the course of an afternoon.

She says she was embarrassed to be seen by her friends from work. I thought she looked fine.

Six months later and her hair finally started to relax. I think we finally got the look she wanted at about eight months.

The hairdresser won't let me back in her shop, since it was kinda my idea.

No, "perm" is a banned and censored word in our house.

My wife started getting Gray streaks at about 35..  I thought she looked fine.. I am with Wandering Man on this..   She started dying her hair its natural color... its ORIGINAL natural color.. And, I started picking on her for dying her hair...
She asked... "So if you start going BALD what are you going to do???
I said... Shave my head? That or let it grow LONG on the sides and put it in a pony tail...
   She said... "Oh god......."
BUT, she stopped dying it, and now has those silver streaks back... Wish she was hear so I could play with those silver streaks...
Oh yeah, her hair is STRAIGHT... gets it from the indian in her blood, and she has always complained and wanted it curly...
My mother is Irish and has CURLY hair, and complains.. wants it STRAIGHT...

O:-) I do my hair both ways, curly and straight! :P But I did have a perm ONCE! Right before my first wedding, I had to  have all my long hair cut off! I looked like I had an affro!  NOT a good look on me! NEVER had one since!

My wife has long, to her butt, hair.  She pulls her hair back tight and wears it is a bun on the back of her head.  Go figure!  Long hair in a bun!  She lets her hair down in the evening and it's beautiful.  Still, long hair in a bun!  I have never questioned this life long habit of hers because it saves perm money, and as I say, "it's not the hill I am willing to die on."
