lots of recipes for these, mostly using white or brown sugar and egg whites........this one's pretty good!!!
love these, so addicting! can also use almonds or walnuts, but my fav are pecans. my grandparents grew pecans in oklahoma when i was a kid growing up, i have an old recipe from my grandmother on these, but using sugar. when we were in alaska, there was a vendor in talkeetna along the talkeetna river selling them, i stocked up for the remainder of our trip...........
Ingredients:
6 cups raw pecans (no salt)
1⁄2 cup honey
1⁄3 cup butter
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (can use more to your liking, up to 2 to 3 teaspoons.)
1 teaspoon sea salt
Directions:
Melt together honey and butter. Remove from heat and mix in cinnamon and salt. Pour over nuts and mix well. Spread mixture on jelly roll pan/non stick cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, stirring a few times during bake time. Spread mixture onto wax paper and cool completely. Break nuts apart and store in airtight container.
these can also be roasted using a slow cooker, but i have never tried it:
directions for slow cooker roasting:
Combine nuts and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Add honey, toss to thoroughly coat nuts. Add the cinnamon-honey coated nuts to the slow cooker, being sure to get all the honey in. Cover and cook in the slow cooker for 1 to 1-1/2 hours on low.
ENJOY!!!
