First crack of the hive!
« on: April 01, 2017, 03:06:32 pm »
We got home from Florida late Thursday night and after dragging everything into the house, I had to at least run out to the hive to make sure it was intact.  Ten pm and there were bees at the entrance, that put a skip in my heart.  Of course, the next day ......rain!  I left them alone and today when I went out after the rain stopped, they were flying like crazy.  Be still my heart! Cracked the lid and this is what I saw. I am so happy after two years of loss this was thrilling!

You can hear our dog barking on the video.  Soon realized why my dog was barking and trying to get in the house.  Poor baby, took the first sting of the season.  Now she's shaking like a leaf. A little baby aspirin should help.

And baby benedryl.  Our little rescue dog refused to go outside for a week after he got stung twice in a week.  We'd been messing with the bees and did things they didn't like.  Frank paid the consequences.

Fortunately, he's got over his fear of the backyard now.
