pollen patty placement in hive
« on: April 04, 2017, 01:39:11 pm »
Hey folks,
I'm about to give my bees some pollen patties and was wondering where is the best location to put them.  Do I place them between the two deep supers?  On the top bars of the upper super?
Thanks,
Joey

On the top bars of the upper deep, right where the bees probably are right now. Crack your inner cover and smoke the bees to shift them off the top bars and try and place the patties as close to the "cluster" or brood area as possible. Ypu may have to "mush" it down a little to get your inner cover to set back down properly.
I put patties on a third of my hives today, but now they are calling for more snow overnight and tomorrow.
