When I was shaking my last swarm it came directly down on me from a Sesser action on the limb  I had it tied off but too much rope to keep it up high so it swung down on me.   incredible experience.

She should consider beekeeping, don't look like she panicked at all. A lot of people would have freaked out.

Good for her!

Shame on him for asking her to stand under the swarm while she cuts the limb.  How could that have been anything but bad?

Well, having someone under the tree who the bees liked, apparently.

Bees DO fall, so will comb if you are cutting open combs from a high limb.  I was helping an experienced beekeeper get some bees that were 35' up.  Yes 35' high, and no lift or ladder.  We vacuumed and vacuumed and broke the combs into a bucket on a pole held as high as we could hold it.  One brood comb missed the bucket and fell straight on my friend.  He was able to get his face out of the way, but it still soiled his dignity...SPLAT!   ;)

Another time, we were getting a swarm just out of reach on the ladder.  I taped a brood frame to a pole and put it up against the cluster in the tree.  When I was bringing it back down with some bees on the comb, a golf ball sized bunch of bees fell to the ground in front of me.  The queen was in that bunch of bees...You never know.  :)

Swarms are fun!

Looks like he needs a taller ladder.
