What's happening inside the hive?
« on: April 07, 2018, 11:30:48 pm »
A friend sent me this link.  It's a live feed inside a hive in Waal Bavaria, Germany:

I think you're looking up from the bottom.  There is light coming in, so I think there must be a top entrance.

Thanks for posting WanderingMan.  Wow!  Look at those loaded pollen baskets.  There is a lot that can be learned about hive behavior from watching this.  Notice how there greet pollen carriers and help unload the pollen?  I see Daisy Chains going on.  I believe that means they are producing wax.  Fascinating.  This is the coolest!

If you read the information provided, this is a colony of Carnolians in a hollow tree.

Is that a stick in the middle of the picture?

What's a beehive without bears nearby?

Actually, this bear den is in a tree in Glacier National Park.  So those bees are pretty safe.  The cub is pretty cute, but he or she doesn't stick his/her head out of the hole very often.
