Hive stand.
« on: January 03, 2019, 03:57:36 pm »
I've noticed with all the rain . one hive was leaning, cinder block foundation was being compromised by water.  Had to lift to slide shim under,  it took both arms on the sides to lift. Wifey slip in shim.
We talked about hefting , couldn't 1 handed.

We have had a record rainfall in 2018.  My bees in the Greensboro Arboretum are in the flood plain of a creek.  When picking the location in 2016, park people said it had been years since the creek came out of its banks.  It has been out 3 times in 2018.  The hives are on cinder blocks stacked 2 high.  One hive now has a bit of a lean, but I think it will be o.k. if we get just a little less rain.  Most of my hives rest on one pair of cinder blocks and do just fine.

These block foundations are 3 years old.

(Don't have red clay)  wish we did.
Hope we in the south don't have a hard late jan. an feb.
