Need help with hive stand
« on: February 22, 2014, 09:27:27 pm »
Okay, I need a little advice. Right now, my 4 hives are on various types of cinder blockage or milk crates. And they are at different distances apart from each other. What I want to do is build one of those cool stands that I have seen from some of you. My question is if I build this directly in front of the hives what are my challenges in moving them to the stand. My plan is to do it at night when they are all home, but some of the hives will be moved 2-3 feet and some hives may be moved 10-12 feet. Will it work for me to just stuff some grass in the opening for them to re-orient?

The ones 5 feet or more away, start moving them about 2 feet each day. They will be close enough by the time the stands are ready.

PS. That's the right way. My way is to just move them and let them find their way home. Only takes them a couple days.
