AT&T U-Verse?
« on: March 11, 2014, 10:14:30 pm »
I'm going to change from Charter Cable to AT&T U-verse for phone, TV and internet service for a couple of reasons. First, it's $24 per month cheaper, more channels, same speed (promised) on the internet. We've been pleased with the internet and phone service with Charter but the TV just never has been right. Our picture will pixilize (is that a word?) and freeze from time to time even in clear weather.  I know service is different in different areas but have any of you tried AT&T U-Verse?

I'm going to respond even though things are different up here.
We were on regular cable here for our services, but switched to fibre-op when it became available.
The problems we had with cable is that whenever the university here opened, or had finals, the internet slowed down so badly my wife would lose her connection (she works from home). Think of a water pipe with a bunch of taps suddenly turned on.
With fibre-op, we have a dedicated strand of wire to our house so this never happens.
Now as far as content on the tv programming, they both are garbage. We will be dropping our tv portion in a few months as there are 200 channels and nothing is on. We subscribed to netflix a few months ago and it provides everything we need for a lot less.

no wayne, can't help you out there.
for tube we have dish network, internet is comcast xfinity, phone is frontier for local and ecg for long distance.
don't care for the bundles, up here, dish network, the internet would be to slow, comcast cable is too expensive for the bundle to include tube and phone.

Before and since AT&T bought Bellsouth, my internet has been rock solid.  Of course at 26.4 kbs, there's not much room to get worse.

Actuality I do not like att because they are a monarchy and will promise you one thing and soon charge you another, my internet works from 40 kbs to 285 kbs and will they do anything about it, yes when you call it comes up and than slows down again in a week.

Thanks for your input. I have a 30 day trial period no charge to try it and if I don't like it they'll take it down no problem, or so they say.

We have u-verse for internet only and ATT mobile. I don't have anything to compare to, never tried anyone else. Internet drops out on occasion but I'm not sure it isn't my 8 year old laptop....

In some parts of the country there aren't a lot of options.  Recently I was considering ATT Uverse and gave them a call.  I wasn't sold and the rep on the phone offered me $100 off if I would sign up.  The $100 was to cover the cost of the equipment we would have to buy.  I still wasn't sure and did nothing.  Google fiber is nearby and heading our way.  I am hopeful it doesn't take too long.
