Blueblood's 6th Swarm DISH Sign on Highpointe 2014
« on: May 24, 2014, 06:17:39 pm »
Thanks to a comrade at work on patrol that spotted this one.  Another easy one.  I left 4 empties (one with no foundation) and one drawn with a little capped honey with this swarm.  The last swarm, I theorize, had no place to unload their wax building desire when I dumped them in with all drawn comb.  This one will stay in the nuc until they draw all five frames out.  Having fun so far this season!

Wow...  that was so easy it qualifies as cheating!   Well done! Got to love it when they offer themselves up that smoothly..   Of course.. it was your mad skill that made it LOOK that easy...

Good job Blue.

Hoe do you get those 2x4's to stand the direction in the blocks?

ppffftttt! that was just too easy, time for a hard one!

I was wondering the same thing as Yankee about the 2 x in the block?

Quick draw McGraw with that hive tool at 3:50, glad the safety was on!

Your inquiry is merited Yankee concerning the non-sleeping 2x4's.  I had to ship with blocks of wood inside the block holes.  ;)

G, I didn't noticed that but went back and made note of your observation.  I pull that out and don't even know I have out of rote practice.  I suppose it's a carry over from law enforcement training.  I train, train, train on pulling my service weapon.  I have cleared leather (well nylon) in harry situations at work and had my Glock pointed at danger before I realized I had drawn.  It's triple security holster too.  There's some flipping, pushing, rocking and then pulling.

And as a side note, I was coughing because I swallowed a bug, not a bee, on my way back.  I finally cleared it.

I am pacing very well Jb.  I have 15 nucs I can use for smaller swarms to keep them occupied while I build/buy more standard equipment.  I have one empty tbh left that I keep forgetting about and four or five Langs ready to go.  I am going to buy equipment from Mannlake this time.  The price difference between buying boxes and making them is under two bucks.  My time is worth more than that right now.  ;D

I took a swarm of a lawn sign once. It was a more solid so I puled the sign out and thumped the bees into the hive, placed the frames in, lid on top, less than 20 bee took to flight, so replanted the sign by stepping it in the ground and picked up the swarm and was gone in under 5 minutes. Love the quick easy ones. You also made it look quick and easy.

Apis, that is pretty much how it went for me.  I stood by to speak with neighbors a bit also.
