Phone call campaign to save the bees and pollinators

I received an email from the Center for Food Safety.  The center urged all concerned citizens to call the White House and voice your concerns regarding Obama's Pollinator Task Force upcoming decision regarding food safety, pollinators and chemicals.  They will be making recommendations to President Obama and he will be making an announcement in a few weeks regarding the White House's policies concerning pollinators.

Call 1-877-796-1948.  That is the number for the Center for Food Safety.  You will here a brief message from them and your call will be redirected to the White House. 
When connected to the White House, deliver this message or something similar:

“Hi, my name is _______ and I’m calling to urge President Obama to protect bees from toxic pesticides immediately to protect our food supply and the environment.”

I called and it took me about 3 minutes to be connected to a White House volunteer.  I urge everyone to call and pass this on.

FYI - Can only leave a message from 9-5 EST Monday - Friday.  If everybody said, don't waste your time, imagine all the legislation that would  have never been passed if the constituents didn't scream.  I copied and pasted this this to my Facebook page and asked my friends to call and share.  You know that saying, "when one butterfly flaps it's wings in one part of the world it can cause a hurricane in another part of the world". :)

No specific pesticides were mentioned.

Though so. When you find a study that shows that neonics harm bees at field levels worse than varroa, nosema, DWV, etc. I'll call.

thought so? thought so what? we aren't other forums that snap off with snarky comments and negative attitudes. we try to  keep a positive attitude here on this forum, unlike other forums. it's just a phone call, get over it. what can it hurt?  can it help? maybe, maybe not. 

you find the study, you post why we shouldn't call........how about that?

I am not a chemist, botanist or a farmer.  I am just a cook.  Did I knee jerk?  Maybe.  I don't know what President Obama's Pollinator Task Force is "exploring" in detail.  I do know that the chemical companies lobby our law makers.  I do believe that in politics both sides of an opinion should be expressed.
I have never called the White House before this and I would bet very few on this forum ever has as well.  That experience in itself broadened my horizons.  I fully expected to speak to an automated machine not a real person.  One feels some sense of empowerment when they do something.
It's our government.  We should be involved. 

Some neonics are more toxic than others.  The water solubility of each pesticide determines how much impact it will have on pollinators.  The alternative to banning neonics is not to turn back the clock.  DDT and Sevin are bad alternatives.  Remember?  Some critical thinking and vision by our elected officials is needed here.

I think this forum has a place for everyone.  A spirited debate can be healthy.  I question the individuals who won't call because they don't like President Obama or they voted Republican or some such nonsense.

A kneejerk reaction?

A friend and I were walking one day when we came across a large snake right under our feet. I did a kneejerk reaction and fled. He didn't. He stood and waited until he could research it and learn if there was a need to move fast.

I sure miss him.

While I do not subscribe fully to the GMO's and neonicitonoids are the devil rational, I loved that post iddee!
