Jen,
So is half of Texas. I am reducing my hives by selling them off so I can spend less on sugar this year. Was almost done. Got down to 1. Then a queen came back, and today brought home 2 starving cutouts with almost no stores.

Hey Gypsi
I've read on your posts before about 'the queen coming back' I'm not sure what you mean by that?

Old queen swarmed off in one hive with half the bees. Newly purchased queen appeared to have died after laying 4 or 5 queen cells and a frame of brood in the other.
A virgin took off from each to mate (opened queen cup) before June 3rd. I tore the hives down last weekend as no queen. Assuming the queen that appeared is now mated, and she's back. Still waiting on her brood frames
