Mud Pan!
« on: June 23, 2014, 06:50:51 pm »

   One of those things I have found to be indispensable when doing a cut out, especially if you dont have a bee vac or cannot use the bee vac;

   I try to herd the bees off the combs as I cut them with light smoke. They usually end up clustered in the last of the comb. I can use this pan to scoop them into, then sprinkle them gently into the box while watching for the queen, provided I have not found her at that point..

Great idea.... I use a kitty litter scoop, the kind that catches the clumps but lets the smalls fall through. Jim

I'm going to add this to my swarm/cutout toolbox. That is a really good idea!

Ever get a sheet metal cut? Slippery honey hands and sharp edges.
I like the ice cooler scoop cause it doesn't slice you open.

That pan doesnt have sharp edges, and it has rubber grips on the bottom in preperation for someone with sheet rock mud all over their hand..  But yeah, I have in fact sliced my palm to the bone on sharp metal edges.. was in fact afraid I had lost the use of my hand at the time. Someone was looking over me though, and my stupidity didnt handicap me for the rest of my life..

Scott, I need to stop buying tools from Menards. I ended up throwing it in the trash after it cut the crap out of me. I'll be on the look for one with rubber grip on the bottom.

Indeed!  We all need to stop going to Wal Mart, Menards etc..  The trend to sell products that these places can make the most profit on is growing.  Making a larger profit usually translates to a crappier product.   As the older crowd dies off, the younger generation does not seem to be bothered with buying a new gizmo every 6 months..
   What happened to building things to last?  30 years ago this crap would not have been tolerated. Today most items are built to have a "specific" life expectancy.. In other words, they are BUILT TO FAIL so that the consumer will return to buy another one.    In many cases, you will even find that buying PARTS to fix an item is not even possible..
    I usually order directly from the supplier or manufacturer. I even order my boots and pants....
