First honey from swarm captured bees
« on: July 09, 2014, 02:55:35 am »
I am getting back into bee keeping by capturing swarms, cut outs, and trap outs to save bees. Yesterday I took two honey laden frames from a small swarm I captured last year.  They are three deeps strong now. I used the squash and strain method as I only wanted to do the two frames. My sister was over so she got a couple pints, but here are the rest. I have to say this is so much better then the store bought....forgot how much I missed fresh honey. Tom

First two jars, a little murky due to air bubbles still rising

Here is the rest minus the two pints I gave my sister.

Looks awesome! Nice light colored honey!
I LOVE honey in my coffee instead of sugar..   Also like your jars!  I usually use pint and quart mason jars just because they are readily available..   Pint jars I sell or gift, the quart jars go in the pantry.

In the jam type mason jar It looks like there are 2 different honeys in the jar. A lighter colored honey on the bottom that has very few air bubbles and a slightly darker honey the air bubbles on top. Nice pictures and thanks for sharing.
